I'm what I call a Perpetual Beginner on the guitar.
I got my first guitar when I was 12 years old and started taking lessons. Looking back, I think I was more focused on the idea of being a real guitarist than on the work it takes to become one. The discipline to practice consistently was always my stumbling block. Over the years I've had several guitars and taken lessons on numerous occasions, but I never progressed past the beginner stage. The dream stayed alive, but the follow-through kept falling short.
Fast forward to today. I'm 65 years old and life took an unexpected turn that left me facing a serious financial setback. It was one of the lowest points of my life. I was lost and scared.
But God had other plans.
I hadn't attended church for several years, but when I hit that low point, God pulled me back in. I found a church full of wonderful believers, began reading the Bible every day, and started putting my trust in Jesus in a way I hadn't before. Looking back on my life, I've come to realize something: every time I lost something I thought was important, I gained something even more important. I don't know exactly where my life is going — but I know who is leading me there. And I truly believe that wherever it is, it will be better than where I was before.
Guit'R Done was born out of all of this.
The name is a reminder to myself — to persevere, to finally become the guitar player I've always wanted to be, and to stop letting life get in the way of the things that matter. It's also a business: an opportunity to provide lifestyle products for people who share my love of Bluegrass and Country music.
Through searching the internet and trying different guitar learning programs, I discovered BanjoBenClark.com and found something that finally clicked for me. Ben's teaching style is warm, encouraging, and genuinely effective. For the first time in my life, I've been sticking with it and actually progressing.
Earlier this year, I was given the opportunity to attend Banjo Ben's Cabin Camp in Athens, GA, and it gave me the boost I needed. Being surrounded by other musicians who are still learning and growing in their own journeys was deeply inspiring. I got to learn from professional musicians, develop real friendships with fellow attendees, and experience the kind of community that only music can create. It was immensely rewarding.
That experience is woven into everything Guit'R Done is about.
Every design here reflects something worth wearing — faith, music, and the simple life. Everything we offer is rooted in a love for the instruments, the music itself, and genuine care for the people who play it. My hope is that Guit'R Done becomes a place of rest from the worries of the world — where music and fellowship lift each other up.
